My Book

I first published my book A Dietitian's Cancer Story in June 1997 at Kinko's. It looked nothing like it does today! My book has since been made into a 'real book',  given 'kudos' in the New York Times, reprinted (and updated) 13 times, with a complete review and 're-write' in 2010.  Just yesterday a woman told me how helpful the book was for her, which is why I keep my book in print.

How to obtain my book:
• All bookstores can order it through their computer ordering systems if the book is not on their shelf. The book is in stock with the book distributor Ingram.
• Call The American Institute for Cancer Research at 1-800-843-8114. AICR is where I donate proceeds from my book's sales to support nutritional research for cancer survivors.
• For personally autographed copies, call Nicola's Books in Ann Arbor, MI, our local independent bookstore, at 734-662-0600.

My book has also been translated into Spanish and is available at both AICR and Amazon.com.
Historia De Cáncer De Una Dietista: Información & Inspiración para la Recuperación & Curación - Sobreviviente de tres cánceres The ISBN # is 978-0-9667238-2-3.

The Foreword from my book:
As a three-time cancer survivor as well as a health care professional, Diana Dyer offers unique perspectives on various complementary approaches to improve the quality of life in cancer patients.  These approaches include lifestyle changes, such as diet, exercise, meditation, as well as other techniques which should be viewed not as alternatives to conventional medicine,  but rather as complementary.  Furthermore, these strategies may be of value not only during the active treatment of cancer, but also during the period of recovery.  By becoming active participants in these lifestyle changes, as Diana has done, cancer survivors can better regain control of their lives and improve its quality.  The information in this book should be valuable to cancer survivors and their families.

- Max Wicha, MD, Director of the University of Michigan's Comprehensive Cancer Center,                        Ann Arbor, Michigan

Here are two reviews from 'total strangers' (seriously!) on Amazon.com, both of which are very meaningful to me:

(2006) This book is wonderful. If you have received that dreaded diagnosis, your doctor is not going to give you as much advice as Diana Dyer does. This book tells you how to improve your diet to maximize your chance of surviving. If you are still healthy, try to stay that way by following her guidelines. I was struck by how far ahead of her time Diana Dyer was. She was making changes (some controversial) way before the research showed she was doing the right thing.

(2011) During my own battle with cancer, I learned SO much about how nutrition can both save your life and then help you to maintain a strong, healthy life.  I decided to become a Registered Dietitian to try to help others learn this information and help themselves as well. While speaking with my adviser at the new school, I was informed about this woman who had made a similar journey and who had decided to do the same thing! I bought the book, and I am so glad that I did - she is an inspiration!

I hope my book is helpful to you at any point along your cancer journey.

I send all my readers the very best wishes for health, healing, and hope!
