Michigan is the #1 producer of tart red cherries in the world. Look in your grocery store's refrigerated section for red tart cherry juice concentrate, a new product I have seen in several local stores.
Almost all plant foods have been found to contain phytochemicals that demonstrate anti-cancer activity, and red tart cherries are no exception. I have modified one of my shake recipes to use this new product to have a new taste and include some different anti-cancer molecules in my daily routine.
- 6 - 8 baby carrots
- 3/4 cup fresh or frozen unsweetened fruit
- 2 - 3 Tbsp. tart cherry juice concentrate (start with 2 Tbsp. and increase to 3 per your taste preference)
- 2-1/2 oz. soft tofu (cut a 1# block into 6 pieces)
- 1 cup soy milk
- 1 cup low-fat plain or vanilla yogurt
- 1 Tbsp each wheat or oat bran, wheat germ, and flaxseed
